Abstract
151,092. Fisk, G. L. June 17, 1919. Cast-iron processes; converters.-Iron is preliminarily refined by subjection to pneumatic treatment in the ladle. The air-supply apparatus comprises a blast head or nozzle 4 protected by refractory rings 12, 13, and secured to a vertical tube 15. This tube slides over a stationary blastpipe 17 which connects with a source of compressed air by a lateral passage 27. The nozzle and tube are raised and lowered by guide rods 19 connected with the upper end of a plunger 26 working in a cylinder 25.
