Abstract

1509162 Frequency-to-digital converter SIEMENS AG 26 Aug 1976 [27 Aug 1975] 35633/76 Heading H3H In a frequency-to-digital converter input pulses are counted in ADD to a predetermined value, providing a pulse from monostable IW which terminates counting of clock pulses from TG in counter ZZ. The contents of ZZ are transferred to shift register SR and the number of shifts taken until the highest hit position is occupied are counted in Z3. The higher value hits of SR content are passed through logarithmic converter FW and entered into store SP together with Z3 content to provide a logarithmic digital measure of the input frequency. The input pulses may be derived from the difference between two frequencies, and the output may be converted to analogue form in DAC. Means are described so that with a falling pulse rate the contents of the timing counter ZZ are shifted to register SR periodically, comprising a digital comparator VG comparing the result store input and output.
