Abstract

1347261 Automatic frequency control UPJOHN CO 14 Sept 1970 43844/70 Heading H3A [Also in Divisions G1 and G4] An output signal is produced by generating a pulse train, counting the number of pulses in the train during a time interval dependent upon a variable input signal frequency, and varying the frequency of the pulse train in dependence upon the number of pulses counted in the interval. The time interval may be the period of the input signal. The frequency of the pulse train is varied (as shown) by comparing (86) the pulses counted with a pre-set number (84) and generating an error signal if the pulses counted (88) differ from the pre-set number. The error signal is produced by registering a number (66) whose sign and magnitude represent the difference, and converting the registered number to analogue form for control of the pulse generator (90). The output pulse train may be caused to be zero whenever the input signal falls below a certain value, by adding a selected voltage to the error signal (78).
