Abstract
1451226 Measuring density using counting apparatus ITT INDUSTRIES Inc 29 Nov 1973 [27 Dec 1972] 55383/73 Heading G4D A digital computer system, includes densitometer apparatus producing pulses at a repetition frequency f approximately proportional to the density d of a fluid such that d = - Rf + S where R and S are constants, a main storage register into which a preset number is entered periodically and reduced by one in dependence on pulses from the densitometer apparatus, the residual count being transferred into an output storage register to which is connected a utilization means. As shown, a pulse source 10 forming a fluid densitometer providing pulses f having a relationship to density of the form set out above is connected through a gate 11 to a one-shot mulivibrator 34 providing pulses to a countdown counter 23. The sequence of the system is determined by a logic circuit 15 providing pulses from a clock-pulse generator 28-31 over lines 16-18. The counter 23 is set by a gating circuit B to a predetermined initial value, manually set on a switch matrix A. The contents of the counter 23, indicative of fluid density is cycled through a gating circuit 24 to a storage register 26 the contents of which is indicated by a device such as an array of lamps, or utilized by a process controller.
