Abstract

1508727 Loading dock bridge plate K ALTEN 11 Oct 1976 [11 Oct 1975] 42157/76 Heading B8E A bridge plate 1 of a loading ramp 3 has an extension 9 extendable by a double acting ram 10 actuated by a pump 14 which has reversable action and is connected through non-return valves 20, 21 to a sump 13 and has at least on the side 12 of the larger area of the piston 11 an excess pressure valve 23. The pump 14 is driven by an electric motor 17 which can be reversed by a polarity reversing switch. When large area side of the piston 11 is being contracted more fluid than is required by the pump 14 to supply the smaller area side is being expelled from the ram 10 and this excess is returned to the sump 13 through the valve 23. Preferably a second excess pressure valve 22 is supplied at the other side of the pump.
