Abstract

1508520 Flash operation WEST ELECTRIC CO Ltd 16 Nov 1976 [20 Nov 1975] 47773/76 Heading G2A A circuit for flash photography comprises an integration section 2 including a light-sensitive element 4, an integrating capacitor 6 and a switching circuit 8 which is reversed when the charge on capacitor 6 reaches a predetermined value. A circuit section 18 includes a stepping-up D.C. converter 13 which charges up a main capacitor 14, subsequently discharged across the flash tube 15 when triggered by a transformer 19. The power supply 11 to the converter 13 is switched on by a switch 12, which is ganged to a switch 3 in the integration circuit 2, switch 3 making contact with either a terminal a for flash photography, or a terminal b for daylight photography. For the latter, switch 3 engages terminal b and switch 12 is open. On releasing the shutter, a switch 10 closes, and the shutter opens. Capacitor 6 charges up, and switching circuit 8 reverses, actuating a magnet 9 which causes the shutter to close. For flash photography, switch 12 is closed and switch 3 contacts terminal a. The flash then operates as described above.
