Abstract

1507575 Screw anchors RAPID SA 6 May 1976 [16 May 1975] 18680/76 Heading F2H A screw anchor comprises a U-shaped metal strip having a first arm 1 carrying a screwsecuring element such as an elemental thread 4 (as shown), a threaded bush (12, Fig. 8, not shown) or caged nut (13, Fig. 9, not shown) and having a first surface facing away from a second arm 2 which carries a second surface(s) spaced from the arm 2, lying adjacent the arm 1 and facing in the opposite direction to the first surface so that the anchor can be inserted through an opening O in a panel P with the first surface bearing on the back of the panel and the second surface(s) on the front of the panel. The anchor thus serves as a blind fastener, the resilience of a semicircular portion 3 joining the arms 1, 2 biasing the arms apart, when they are moved toward one another, to ensure that the panel P is clamped between the first and second surfaces which, before installation of the anchor, are desirably co-planar. As shown the second surfaces are formed on wings 8 laterally projecting from fingers 7 upstanding from the arm 2. Projecting stops 9 on the arm 1 prevent rotation of the anchor relative to the opening O.
