Abstract

1507123 Vehicle wheels FORGEAL SOC POUR LE FORGEAGE ET L'ESTAMPAGE DES ALLIAGES LEGERS 2 April 1976 13516/76 Heading B7 [Also in Division B3] A metal wheel for a vehicle is pressed from a cylindrical blank abc, Fig. 1, to a flanged disc 1, is pressed in one or two further steps to provide oppositely directed rim beads 2 and 4, Fig. 3, and is shaped by a roller 10, Fig. 8, before final machining. After the pressing steps, the longer bead 2 is increased in diameter to assume a conical form, with or without a previous lengthening of the bead by rolling. The final shaping by the roller 10 may provide the finished form of the wheel rim, or the rim surface may be machined. The edges of the beads are machined and a central bore and wheel nut holes &c. are provided in the wheel. The wheel may be of ASG 6061 aluminium alloy.
