Abstract

1506961 Etching PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd 16 Sept 1975 [19 Sept 1974] 38007/75 Heading B6J A glass article comprising more than 50% by weight of SiO 2 is selectively etched by providing on the surface thereof a uniform layer of TiO 2 and a photoresist pattern covering the TiO 2 layer. The TiO 2 and then the glass is etched with HF. The TiO 2 layer is deposited by contacting the surface of the glass article with a pyrolysable titanium compound (e.g. titanium acetylacetonate or isopropyltitanate) at 180-240‹ C.
