Abstract

1506884 Cultivating tissue cells SYNTHELABO 25 July 1975 [26 July 1974] 31246/75 Heading C6F Plant cells from species of Phanerogamae are cultivated in vitro on a culture medium comprising lactose as principal source of organic carbon. Pure lactose, milk ultrafiltrate (lactose juice) or lactose serum may be employed. The culture medium contains conventional sources of mineral elements and growth-promoting substances, and may include agar where a solidified medium is required. Examples are directed to obtaining, by adaptation or selection, plant cells which are capable of growing normally in vitro on lactose-containing media, starting from varieties of lucerne, soya, small periwinkle, belladonna poppies and foxglove.
