Abstract

1506111 Feeding sheets; screw conveyers NETHERLANDS POSTAL & TELECOMMUNICATION SERVICE, DIRECTOR GENERAL OF 2 July 1976 [2 July 1975] 27733/76 Headings B8A and B8R Letters 3, or other sheets, are passed cornerdown to an on-edge pile by guides 1, 2, 7, 8 and rotating feed screws 4, 5, 6, 9, 10, 11, then are picked up by endless perforate belt 15 as it passes over suction box 18 on swing arm 12. Detectors 21, 22 monitor the position of the arm. When there is no letter on the belt the arm is moved against the letters by reaction from the rotation of the belt and suction part 19 catches the first letter and pulls it against the belt. If the supply of letters fails, the arm moves to actuate detector 22, which causes the feed screws to supply more letters. Alternatively if too many letters are fed detector 21 is actuated to stop the feed screws.
