Abstract
1505966 Two-part couplings GROTE & HARTMANN GmbH & CO 1 June 1976 [2 June 1975] 22553/76 Heading H2E A connector socket has a crimp portion 1 for crimping a wire to the socket and a socket portion 2 comprising a bottom wall 7 from which side walls 8, 9 extend carrying respective resilient top walls 10 facing the bottom wall 7, the side walls being integral with detents 11. In the illustrated embodiment, the socket serves to receive a flat plug pin and has detents 11 in the form of serrations which extend beyond the edges of the side walls 9 so as to enable detention of the socket in a carrier body such as the stator of a motor. The crimp portion 1 is offset with respect to the socket portion so as to permit connection of the plug pin from the crimp portion end. The top and bottom walls 10 and 7 are formed thinner than the rest of the socket and are bowed inwardly to provide a spring action for retaining in the socket a pin inserted therein. The side walls have front and rear portions 8 and 9, respectively. Retention of a wire crimped to crimp portion 1 is assisted by ridges surrounding holes 3 in the crimp portion, the ridges also serving to ensure good electrical contact when enamelled wire is crimped, by penetrating the enamel layer. In a further embodiment (Figs. 3 to 6, not shown), the socket serves to receive a round plug pin or a wire and differs from the above socket in that entry guides 14 in the form of fingers extending towards one another are provided on the side walls 8 whilst only bottom wall 7 is formed thinner than the rest of the socket and bowed inwardly, inwardly and rearwardly directed serrations (12), (13), Figs. 5, 6 (not shown), being provided on the adjacent ends of the top walls 10 which serve to resist extraction of a pin or wire from the socket.
