1505782 .Spring counterbalanced sash windows E E FOSTER and T E FOSTER 11 Sept 1976 37727/76 Heading E1J A counterbalance for a vertically sliding sash window comprises a support member (S) bearing at least two self-coiling, flat, spiral springs 38, 39 the outer ends 40, 41 of which are together fixed to the movable sash 11. The outer convolution of the spring is borne on the upper surface 28, 33, 34 of a transverse member of the support member which is attached to the head rail 2 of the main frame.
