Abstract

150,552. Aiolfi, C. Oct. 13, 1919. Chimneys and flues.-The smoke flues of locomotive-engine sheds &c. consist of a number of telescopic tubes F, G connected by a pivotally movable joint E to branches D from a main horizontal conduit C, so that they may be adjusted over the funnels of the locomotives. The tube G is raised and lowered by a winch c<1>. When a. locomotive is moved, it swings aside the tubes F and G as shown in Fig. 2, and by means of lever mechanism y connected to the tube F, and a cord q<1>, releases a stop q on the winch, which is then turned automatically by a balance weight p to raise the tube G, and by tightening a cord g to close a damper in the branch tube D.
