Abstract

1505334 Combustion furnace BAYER AG 27 July 1976 [31 July 1975] 31253/76 Heading G1B A combustion furnace for the pyrolysis of liquids comprises a cylindrical combustion chamber 1 with inlets 2 and 3 for the supply of an oxygen containing carrier gas and a test liquid sample respectively, an outlet 8 for removing the combustion gases to analysis, a liquid collector 4 for the sample under test and an incandescent coil 5 for maintaining the pyrolysis temperature at 1100- 1300‹C. The coil 5 is generally located inside the preferably conical liquid collector 4 and can be heated to incandescence by passage of current via the connecting wires 6a and b passing through the outer wall of the chamber 1. Preferably platinum is used as the material of construction for the incandescent coil 5 and collector 4.
