Abstract

1504033 Fermenting tea leaf etc. HAMBRO MACHINERY Ltd 2 April 1976 [17 April 1975] 15964/75 Heading A2B Leaf (e.g. tea) fermenting apparatus comprises a perforated conveyor belt, means for feeding and discharging the tea leaf on to and from the belt, the belt forming at least part of at least one wall of at least two plenum chambers and means for supplying air to the plenum chambers. The conveyor may form the top wall of each chamber. The side walls of the plenum chamber may sealingly engage with the conveyor. The conveyor may consist of perforated slats. The air may be humidified and may be fed by means of a fan. A washing station may be provided to wash residual tea leaf from the slats with water jets, after the leaf has been discharged. Breaking means may be provided for the discharged leaf.
