Abstract

1503813 Belt filter press R BESNARD 17 April 1975 15957/75 Heading B1D A travelling band filter press comprises two endless bands 1, 2 each entrained about a plurality of guide rollers 3-10 and squeezing rollers 17-36. At the downstream end of the reach where the bands are pressed together the bands travel in a more wavy path than in the other part of the reach. Slurry is fed from hopper 40, inclined plate 41 to a upwardly inclined reach of belt 1, liquid drains into trough 42, and through pipe 43 to trough 11. The slurry then falls into area 14 passes rollers 46 and 47 with scrapers 48 and 49 and enters the squeezing zone, further liquid drains into trough 11 and dried material is removed by scraper 38. The bands may be of helices of or woven steel wire, the upper band being more open in structure than the other. The rollers 32-36 may progressively increase in diameter or have their axes at lower heights e.g. by pivoting a member supporting the rollers. A final squeezing roller may have a helical groove pattern. A steam or wash liquid pipe may remove adhering solid and/or brushes may be used.
