Abstract
1503702 Blasting R E WALKER 15 April 1975 15489/75 Heading E1F A method of blasting comprises arranging a plurality of columns of blasting assemblies in rock adjacent a quarry face, the columns extending in a direction away from the face and the assemblies of the respective columns forming rows of blasting assemblies transverse to the columns and substantially parallel to the quarry face, the assemblies of each column having ignition systems with progressively greater time delays proceeding along the column in a direction away from the quarry face, and igniting the columns of blasting assemblies in sequence, in a direction parallel to the rows. The columns are ignited successively at intervals of from 10 - 100 milliseconds and the time delay between successive charges in each column is from 25 - 100 milliseconds. Additional charges may be positioned in each row between the charges previously referred to, the additional charges having time delay periods which differ from each other and each of which differs from those previously referred to in its row.
