Abstract

1503670 Sulpher in bitumen emulsion SULPHUR DEVELOPMENT INSTITUTE OF CANADA 1 Dec 1975 [3 Dec 1974] 52222/74 Heading B1V [Also in Division C3] A binder composition for mineral aggregates comprises an emulsion of sulphur (dispersed phase) and a bituminous material (continuous phase) containing an organosiloxane polymer in an amount of not more than 0.1 wt. % based on the wt. of bituminous material. This amount is sufficient to prevent significant sedimentation of sulphur at 125- 145‹C. The binder may contain 60-70 wt. % bituminous material, e.g. asphalt and 30-40wt.% sulphur. The emulsion is used in the formulation of paving mixes (Division C3).
