Abstract

1502922 Hospital beds AVION AUSTRALIA PTY Ltd 15 May 1975 [2 Aug 1974 23 Aug 1974] 20601/75 Heading A4J A hospital bed comprises a mattress support 51 adjustably mounted on a frame 11 by two rotatable shafts 53 extending letween the sides of the frame and carrying radially extending arms 57 pivoted to links 59 pivoted to the mattress support. The shafts may be coupled by two parallel bars 62 provided with slots 64 in which are engaged the ends of two further pairs of arms 60 radially extending from the shafts. Rotation of the shafts may be effected by rotation of a screw threaded rod 66 which engages a screw threaded block 75 connected between the bars counterbalancing springs may be mounted between each arm 60 and the frame 11. In a modification the screw threaded rod may be replaced by lockable telescopic tubes in which the counterbalance springs are mounted. The bed may also comprise two pairs of telescopic legs as described in Specification 1459735.
