Abstract

1502708 Luminescent compositions DAI NIPPON TORYO CO Ltd 29 June 1976 [30 June 1975 (2)] 40/77 Divided out of 1502707 Heading C4S A blue emitting fluorescent composition contains indium oxide (In 2 O 3 ) powder and ZnS:Ag phosphor powder in a wt. ratio of 1:9 to 9:1 (e.g. 1:4 to 4:1 or 1/3). Activator concentrations are given. The phosphor may be produced by adding AgNO 3 to reagent grade ZnS and firing in a reducing atmosphere in the range 900‹ to 1200‹ C. Firing above or below 1020‹ C. produces a hexagonal or cubic structure respectively. The oxide and phosphor may be mechanically mixed. The oxide may be produced and treated as described in the parent Specification. Also described in the parent Specification are applications and low velocity (e.g. < 100 eV) electron excited fluorescent tubes, including deposition by sedimentation procedures and multiphosphor screens. The electrical conductivity of the In 2 O 3 is considered to reduce charging,
