Abstract

1502662 Derivatives of α-methylindan-5- acetic acid SANKYO CO Ltd 5 Feb 1975 [14 Feb 1974] 4947/75 Heading C2C The invention comprises the compound of Formula (IIb) and its pharmaceutically acceptable salts (wherein R<SP>1</SP> is H), and a process for preparing it by hydrolysing the corresponding amide, alkyl ester or nitrile, followed if desired by salt formation. Starting materials otherwise prepared have the formula ZCH 2 Cl and ZCH 2 CN, where Z is 2-isopropyl-5-indonyl. Therapeutic compositions having analgesic anti-inflammatory and antipyretic activity comprise the above compounds (I), and may be administered orally or parenterally.
