Abstract
1502594 Exciting dynamo-electric machines DORNIER AG 20 Jan 1971 2815/71 Heading H2A In an istopic gas ultra-centrifuge, the rotation is provided by a hysteresis motor, the stator windings of which are supplied from a D.C. source U through cyclically-operated switches and a series LCR circuit. The switch-operating frequency is such as to produce oscillations at the required motor-operating speed, with a low harmonic content. In each phase (Fig. 3) the motor winding, with inductance L and resistance W, forms a damped oscillatory series circuit with a capacitor C, and is supplied from source U by the switch arrangement ER, ES or ET, respectively. Mechanical or electronic switches may be used. Several such motor control arrangements may be grouped together in the form of series, parallel, or series-parallel arrangements (Figs. 5-7, not shown). Auxiliary means are used to bring the centrifuge(s) up to their normal operating speed.
