Abstract

1501746 Determination of ethanol CALBIOCHEM 14 Oct 1975 41981/75 Heading G1B A composition useful in determination of ethanol in body fluids, spent distillery liquors and waste water comprises alcohol dehydrogenase, nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD), a buffer/ acetaldehyde-trapping agent selected from 2-amino- 2-hydroxymethyl-1, 3-propane diol, 2-amino-2- methyl-1, 3-propane diol and mixtures thereof and an acid to lower the pH of an aqueous solution of the composition to within the range 8À8 to 9À2, the composition being free of any other acetaldehyde trapping agent. The composition may also include EDTA or a sodium salt thereof as heavy metal sequestering agent. Other sequestering agents mentioned are diethylene triamine penta-acetic acid 8-hydroxyquinoline, orthophenanthroline, bipyridyl;
