Abstract

150,121. Little, C. W. G. June 20, 1919. Spray carburettors.-A constriction is provided in the connexion between the float chamber and the fuel orifice, and air is admitted to the connexion between the constriction and the fuel orifice by a rotary valve operated in unison with a combined throttle and choke tube. The body 1 is provided with a chamber 2 open at one side to the atmosphere, and is connected to a hollow member 4 which supplies fuel from a float chamber to a lateral extension 6 of the body 1. The extension 6 is provided with a plug 5 having a restricted orifice 5a communicating with a vertical well 7 provided with a pipe 11 leading diametrically into a rotatable combined throttle and choke tube 9. The throttle 9 is provided with a sleeve 12 having a V or triangular shaped opening 14 which, when the throttle 9 is closed, registers with a duct 13 leading to the well 7. As the throttle 9 is opened with increase of load, the supply of air through the opening 14 is thus gradually cut off. An adjustable sleeve 15 having an aperture 17 and secured by a screw 16 is provided to regulate the area of the opening 14. Air, primarily for use under heavy loads, is also supplied to the duct 13 through an apertured sleeve controlled by a manually-operated needle valve. An air passage 20 controlled by an angularly-sliding plate 23 supplies air through a duct 22 to the throttle valve 9.
