Abstract
1500833 Vertical deflection circuit INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ELECTRIC CORP 4 Dec 1975 [9 Dec 1974] 49817/75 Heading H3P A television receiver has a vertical deflection arrangement comprising means 2, 5 for generating a distorted sawtooth waveform the output of which is applied to the non-inverting input 11 of a deflection amplifier 9 which has an output 12 coupled to the series arrangement of deflection coils 15, a current sampling resistor 16 and a coupling capacitor 20 in that order. There is a negative feedback path between the junction of the coils and the resistor and the inverting input of the amplifier, and the means for generating a distorted sawtooth is operated with reference to the potential existing between the current sampling resistor and the coupling capacitor. An inductance (not shown) may be connected between the deflection coils, or between the current sampling resistor 16 and the coils, for N-S raster distortion correction. The coupling capacitor may be connected to ground via a series resistor 24 to provide a sawtooth without a D.C. component to other stages. A parabola shaped voltage is present at the junction between resistor 16 and the coupling capacitor and this is added to the distorted sawtooth produced 5 from a sawtooth generator 2 which receives synch. pulses at 1. Conventionally, parabolic feedback signals vary widely from circuit to circuit because of capacitor tolerances and these are compensated for by varying parameters in the distorted sawtooth producing circuit 5, the feedback going only to the deflection amplifier. By feeding back further and by making the feedback voltage depend on the value of the capacitor 20 the present circuit makes correction for tolerances unnecessary thereby simplifying the requirements of the distorted sawtooth generator. The coupling capacitor 6 may be placed at the input of the distorted sawtooth generator 5 (not shown) rather than at the output.
