Abstract

1500698 Flat cable clamps HAWKER SIDDELEY AVIATION Ltd 11 Feb 1975 [31 July 1974] 33869/74 Heading E2B A clamp for flat cables comprises a base block 1 or 21 with perpendicularly extending end flanges 2, 22 formed with serrations 4, 25 and a flat-bar-like retaining block 6, 28 formed with ratchet teeth 5, 25 for progressively engaging the serrations. In a first embodiment Fig. 1, the material of the clamp may be glass - filled nylon and elastomeric foam clamp pads 11 help grip one or more flat cables and prevent scuffing. In a second embodiment, Fig. 4 slots in the retaining block 28 receive the flanges 22 and the flanges 22 must be pressed inwardly to become perpendicular and allow ratchet - type engagement. The floor 31 of the base block may be slightly convex (as shown): alternatively or in addition the underside of the retaining block may incorporate a strip of expanded polyethylene to enhance clamping. Channels 32 in the retaining block are provided for receiving cable ties for attaching further cables.
