Abstract

1500563 Tyre cord impregnants OWENSCORNING FIBERGLAS CORP 28 July 1975 [5 Aug 1974] 31517/75 Heading C5W [Also in Division C3] A composition comprises a polymeric elastomer and an aqueous emulsion containing a paraffin wax and a microcrystalline wax as the dispersed phase. The composition may be used as a tyre cord impregnant. In the examples a wax emulsion is prepared from paraffin wax, microcrystalline wax, potassium hydroxide solution, oleic acid and deionized water and mixed with a vinylpyridinestyrene-butadiene terpolymer, ammonium hydroxide, a styrene-butadiene copolymer, water, sodium hydroxide, formaldehyde solution, a resorcinol-formaldehyde mixture and a thixotropic agent, e.g. a carboxyl-containing emulsion.
