1520599 Gasoline composition TEXACO DEVELOPMENT CORP 16 Oct 1976 43085/76 Heading C5G [Also in Division C3] Motor fuel gasoline hydrocarbons contain as a rust- and corrosion-inhibitor a high mol. wt. alkenyl-substituted lactone obtained by treating an alkenylsuccinic acid (the alkenyl radical having an average mol. wt. of 300 to 3000) with a protonating agent or electron pair acceptor, selected from ptoluene-sulphonic acid hydrate, BF 3 etherate, a sulphonic acid ion exchange resin, or conc. H 2 SO 4 or HClO 4 , under substantially anhydrous conditions at 25-100‹ C.
