1500130 Permutation lock QUALIDUX INDUSTRIAL CO Ltd 26 Sept 1975 [24 Dec 1974] 55789/74 Heading E2A A permutation lock is made up of a plurality of elements 1, each of which comprises a housing 2 with a dial member 10 rotatably mounted in it. The dial member 10 has splines 11 engaging in recesses 12 of a pressure plate 13 which is also engaged by a bolt 25 with a tongue 25b. The bolt has splines 26 engaging angularly disposed grooves 27 in plate 13 (Fig. 3). Keeper 3 has holes 30 so arranged that tongue 25b can pass through it only when the tongue has the correct angular setting. A plurality of such elements 1 may share the same housing 2 and keeper 3. The combination may be changed by forcing bolt 25 against spring 28 so that splines 26 clear plate 13 and then rotating the dial. Detents 22 can be used to indicate the position of the dial by cooperation with dimples 23. The lock may be combined with a latching arrangement as shown in Fig. 1. Housing 2 is pivoted to keeper 3 via pivots 8 and 9 and linked to latching member 44 bearing hook 45 (Fig. 5 not shown) so that moving the lock housing 2 into engagement with the keeper enables the hook to slide into a position where it engages another hook 46 secured to another element. This enables two elements e.g. sides of a bag (Fig. 7 not shown) to be locked together.
