149,892. Thompson, W. P., (Union Special Machine Co.). March 3, 1920. Overhead sewing-machines; work guides.- Means is provided for guiding a circularly knitted stocking to stitch-forming mechanism for sewing a line of stitches along the back of the stocking. The stocking fed by the feeders 4 is supported on a guide plate 8 carried by a rotatable rod 6. A pivoted arm 11 hangs by gravity and stretches the stocking so that it hugs closely the upper edge of the plate 8. A link L carried on the plate 8 serves to hold the arm 11 parallel with the plate for insertion into the stocking or when the guide is not in use.
