Abstract
149,879. Mitchell, F. Dec. 4, 1919. Plants, supporting and training.-A device for fastening plants to supports, and for like purposes, comprises a pliable or flexible metallic band or like member having a round part adapted to be bent by hand for receiving or encircling a plant stem &c. and a flattened part to be bent round and grip a support. The device shown in Fig. H consists of a round lead wire a flattened out at one end a<1>. The unflattened part is coiled round the plant c and the flattened part is wound round a rod or other support d so as to grip it. The un. flattened part may be tapered and the flattened part may be semicircular in section or formed with one or more longitudinal grooves or corrugations. In the form shown in Fig. 4, both ends are flattened and bent round supports. The part a' is bent round the rod d, folded over itself at a<2>, and then bent backwards and again passed round the round, so that the part a<3> locks the loop encircling the rod.
