Abstract

1498796 Luminescent materials and uses thereof DEFENCE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR 22 April 1975 [26 April 1974] 18481/74 Heading C4S A phosphor material is of formula aM<SP>I</SP>bM<SP>II-</SP> PO 4 :cM<SP>III</SP> in which M<SP>I</SP> is one of Li, Na, K, Rb, Cs; M" is one of Ca, Sr, Ba; M<SP>III</SP> is at least one of divalent Eu, Tb, Yb, Sm, and Sb, a is 0À95 to 1À05, b is 0À95 to 1À05 and c is 0À0002 to 0À050, the phosphor exhibiting at least one of electroluminescence, fluorescence, and cathodoluminescence. Particular materials are disclosed and the preparation specifies starting materials which are blended, slurried, dried, fired in air and then in a reducing atmosphere. Firing temperatures during the respective stages may be 700‹ C. to 800‹ C, and 900‹ C. to 1100‹ C. After drying, the product may be ground.
