Abstract

1497226 Railway brake control valve arrangemerits KNORR-BREMSE GmbH 10 April 1975 [14 May 1974] 14860/75 Heading F2F A control valve arrangement for use in an air brake system for a rail vehicle comprises both maximum and minimum pressure limiters, and a triple pressure control valve for direct and indirect control of the brake cylinder pressure. The braking system of Fig. 1 including an embodiment of the arrangement according to the invention comprises supply reservoir 41 supplying air to chamber 19 of the maximum pressure limiter from where it may pass to bore 23, according to the position of the valve 11, 12 of the limiter, and on through nozzle 27 to the inlet valve 29 of the triple pressure control valve and to a valve seat 39 of the minimum pressure limiter. On reaching bore 23 air may pass through bores 25, 24 and 18 respectively to act on diaphragm 5 such that valve 11, 12 is closed when a certain maximum desired brake pressure is attained. The maximum pressure limiter incorporates a flow guiding member 21 incorporated in the bore 23 being of widening cross-section then narrowing towards its extremity 22. A second embodiment of the flow limiter may be generally frusto-conical.
