Abstract

1465297 Brake valves GIRLING Ltd 4 June 1975 [21 June 1974] 27534/74 Headings F2F and F2V A preferably tubular stop 27 is provided to prevent damaging contact between a valve member 9 and a seating 11 in a proportioning valve comprising a stepped bore containing two pistons 5, 6 spring urged towards one another, the smaller one controlling the valve member 9 which controls the flow of pressure fluid from an inlet between the pistons, through the piston 6, which includes the seating 11, to one or more outlets 30. The tubular stop 27 has apertures 28, a radial flange 26 forming a seat for the spring 25 and preferably fits with clearance round and acts as a guide for the head of the valve member 9. The stem 7 of the valve member is adjustable in the piston 5. In operation of the valve as the inlet pressure increases the piston 5 moves rightwards until the valve member closes the passage 4 in the piston 6. Further inlet fluid displaces the pistons together leftwards, the outlet pressure increasing at a lower rate than the inlet pressure because of the different diameters of the pistons.
