1497137 Suitcases with wheels L SCHWABTZ 3 Sept 1975 [6 Sept 1974] 36203/75 Heading B8P A suitcase of substantially parallelepipedicshape has front and rear panels which are capable of relative hinging movement to open the suitcase, and top, bottom and side panels 20, 22, 24, 26 therebetween. A carrying handle 27 is provided on panel 20 and a pair of wheels 42 is provided at the junction of the bottom panel 22 and one of the adjacent panels, an additional handle 44 being pivoted to the panel opposite said adjacent panel, the pivot connection being such that the handle 44 is movable between an inoperative position in which it lies alongside the said opposite panel and an operative position in which it is substantially perpendicular thereto. The wheels may be provided at the junction of the rear and bottom panels and the handle 44 on the front panel, but as shown the wheels are adjacent one side panel 26 and the handle is pivoted to a bar 46 secured in a recess of the side panel 24. The handle 44 is hinged to a link 50 having at its other end a slider movable along a guideway 48 in the bar 46. The handle is of channel section to enbrace the bar when it is in its inoperative position and is held in this position by a magnet 56. The body and lid of the suitcase are of rigid moulded or pressed material.
