Abstract

1497119 Spanners and wrenches GENERAL ELECTRIC CO 25 March 1975 [28 March 1974] 12430/75 Heading B3N [Also in Division H1] An electrically-isolating torque transmitting assembly comprises a first metallic member 38 having an end 38b shaped for operative engagement by a torque-applying tool, a second metallic member 40 spaced from the member 38 and shaped operably to engage a bolt, such as bolt 46, or nut or to serve as a bolt or as a nut, a third, electrically insulating member 42 disposed between the first and second members and having opposite end portions 42a, 42b engaging complementarily shaped end portions 38a, 40a of the other members for transmitting torque therebetween and means, insulative plastics sleeve 44, holding the three members together. Such an assembly may be incorporated in a heavy circuit breaker or switch 10 to assist installation and removal thereof relative to the live terminals 12a-12c of a switchboard. Pin terminals 26 on the breaker are drawn into sockets 30 on the switchboard by means of bolt and nut terminals 46, 52, the bolt 46 being rotated by means of the torque transmitting assembly 36. The similar, load, terminals 14, 24 at the base of the breaker and switchboard may be drawn together in a similar manner by a bolt (60, Fig. 2, not shown) and nut 52 connection but an isolating torque transmitting assembly is not required since the terminals can be disconnected from the supply by the breaker.
