Abstract

1496878 Hydraulic actuators BECKER EQUIPMENT & LIFTS Ltd 30 Jan 1975 [1 Nov 1973] 50900/73 Heading F1D An actuator 11, Fig. 2, has a bearing 20 for the piston-rod 13 which is moved outwards by a rod 22, as the piston-rod is extended, to a position part way along the rod and is guided by a member 16 which also guides the piston-rod. The rod 22 has end-stops which engage sliders 5, 21 on the piston-rod and bearing. A further rod 23 is also provided Fig. 3 shows an embodiment in which the bearing 44, 44, is supported on spring-loaded pivoted arms 42. The bearing grips the piston-rod 13 and is carried upwards thereby from its lower rest position until rollers 46, mounted on arms 42, abut wedge members 47 and cause the arms to pivot, thus disengaging the bearing 44, 44 from the rod. The wedges are located at a point about half way along the piston-rod when it is fully extended. The rod 22 is retained as a safety precaution. The actuator may be used in a lift.
