Abstract

1496105 Carding machine frames CARDING SPECIALISTS (CANADA) Ltd 8 Oct 1976 41922/76 Heading DIN A carding machine with two card cylinders, takerins and doffers has each set arranged on its own frame comprising a pair of longitudinal beams at opposite sides, which are mounted at or near each end so as to be pivotable about transverse axes, means being provided to transfer web from the first doffer to the second takerin, and the beams of each frame being aligned but not joined. The card cylinders are mounted in bearing blocks 5, 17 mounted to be pivotable about vertical axes on respective beams. Bends and adjustable undercover supports are carried by the bearing blocks to ensure maintenance of their relative settings. The pivotal mounting is by ball and socket joints 36-39 and 48-51. The web transfer means includes a pair of crush rolls on shafts 12, 13 carried by the first frame. The upper crush roll axis is in a plane containing the axis of a shaft 20 carrying a transfer roll and mounted on the second frame, this plane making an angle α not more than 45‹ to the horizontal. The shafts of the rolls of the web transfer means are mounted to the frames by clamp bolts through adjustment slots and screw adjusters are provided. Frame parts 64, 65 Fig. 2 are demountable to allow axes to the centre section of the machine. An overall cover 102 is provided below which suction is applied to clean the machine.
