Abstract

1495761 Delay timer XEROX CORP 13 March 1975 [14 March 1974] 10535/75 Heading H3T [Also in Division G2] A timer of the type in which a capacitor 34, Fig. 3, charges through a resistance 39, 37, 38, until a PUT 33 is triggered, is characterized in that part of the resistance can be shunted selectively by a transistor 35 thereby changing the time delay. In the rest condition the input to an inverter 36 is low (=0) and the timing capacitor is maintained discharged. The time delay is initiated by the appearance of a high input (=1) to the inverter 36, and continues for a period determined by whether or not transistor 35 has been made conductive. The circuit is said to be of particular use in a xerographic printing machine, but no details of the units 43 and 44 preceding and following the timer are given.
