1495541 Shelving A S L OWENSMITH 18 Dec 1974 [3 Oct 1973 (3)] 46147/73 46148/73 and 46149/73 Heading A4B A shelving structure comprises a rectangular shelf panel 2 with longitudinal edge flanges 3, 5 and 4, 6 defining opposed front and rear grooves, the rear flange 4 having spaced holes 7, 8 to receive wall-fixing screws, the shelf being braced against tilting about its wall-fixing by at least one bracing component, such as 9, Fig. 2, with an insert member 11 having end portions which engage in the opposed grooves of the shelf, the bracing component 9 having a rear, wall-abutting face 12 which is flush with the rear flange 4. The bracing component may extend above or being the shelf panel; in the latter case the wall abutting edge is provided with a flange to receive wall-fixing screws. In another embodiment, Fig. 3 (not shown) the grooves and insert portions are triangular and a single bracing member is disposed beneath and at mid-length of the shelf. In a further embodiment, Fig. 4, the bracing member 18 is slidably engaged with the shelf 25 and secured thereto by clamping screws 26, 27 at the desired location. In a further embodiment, Fig. 5 (not shown) the locking is effected by tightening a clamping screw to compress a resilient insert so that the insert ends bear on the bottom faces of the grooves. In a further embodiment, Fig. 7 the bracing member has slots 41, 42 to receive the shelf flanges 43, 44 and the shelf is fitted with a panel 45 which is flush with the flanges 43, 44. In a further embodiment, Fig. 8, the bracing members comprise upright panels 52, 53 fitted with insert members 54, 55.
