Abstract

1495266 Knitting COURTAULDS Ltd 13 March 1975 [14 March 1974] 11375/74 Heading D1K A fabric tube for forming the body portion 10 of a body garment, e.g. cardigan incorporates elastomeric yarn at least in a part thereof (e.g. waistband 11) forming courses extending circumferentially of the tube and giving a mock-rib appearance, these courses being interrupted in a region 12 extending lengthwise of the tube and of small circumferential extent so that on cutting the tube along line 14 the elastomeric yarn is not cut with consequential loss of appearance. The tube is suitably knitted on a V-bed machine, the elastomeric yarn being fed by a carrier 19 following a path 20. The carriage may have two knitting systems and the elastomeric and ground yarn may be fed throughout the tube to produce alternate courses of the two yarns or two courses of ground yarn for every course of elastomeric yarn. The tube 10 may have sleeves integrally knitted therewith or joined on subsequently.
