Abstract
1495196 Heat exchanger BUNDABERG FOUNDRY CO Ltd 27 Oct 1975 44211/75 Heading F4S [Also in Division B1] A heat exchanger for use in sugar manufacture comprises heat exchange tubes 23 secured to a carrier 20, 21, 22 which can be vertically reciprocated together with the tubes to stir liquid in a container 10. Linear reciprocation of the tubes and carrier is by means of a shaft 16 connected to the piston of a doubleacting hydraulic cylinder 17. The tubes 23 are arranged longitudinally with respect to the container 10 and are connected in series to form an assembly.- Connection to and from the tubular assembly is through vertical inlet and outlet tubes (24, 25), Fig. 1 (not shown), and flexible hoses (not shown). Cold liquid to crystallize the sugar, or hot liquid, may be supplied to the tubular assembly. In an alternative, a tubular assembly can be reciprocated horizontally (rather than vertically) within the container.
