Abstract
1495104 Microwave diode oscillators COMPAGNIE INDUSTRIELLE DES TELECOMMUNICATIONS CIT-ALCATEL 13 Feb 1976 [13 Feb 1975] 5721/76 Heading H3T [Also in Division H1] In a frequency stabilized microwave source including a diode oscillator 1, Fig. 2 mounted in a rectangular waveguide 2 defined between first and second blocks 3 and 5, a resonant cavity 6, Fig. 3, formed in the second block is coupled to the waveguide at a point 8 between the diode and an absorptive load 16 at one end of the waveguide, the resonant cavity includes a piston formed partially at 7 of the same material as the second block and partially at 9 of another material and the materials and their relative dispositions are so chosen that the length of the piston varies with change in temperature such as to vary the resonant frequency of the cavity to compensate for temperature drift in the oscillator frequency of the diode. As shown a Gunn diode 1 is mounted by a screw 4 on a good heat conductive block, such as brass having a high percentage of copper. The block 5 and piston port 7 are made of Invar Registered Trade Mark and the port 9 of the piston is of copper. In a modification the base portion (10, Fig. 4, not shown) is of copper to derive a better heat conduction.
