Abstract

1494927 Foamable plasticized styrene polymers BASF AG 25 April 1975 [26 April 1974] 17214/75 Heading C3C A foamable moulding material comprises a styrene polymer (containing at least 50% by wt. of styrene units) contains 2-8% by wt. (based on the polymer) of isobutane, isobutene or a C 4 hydrocarbon mixture containing more than 50% by wt. of branched C 4 hydrocarbons as blowing agent and 0À2-2% by wt. (based on the polymer) of a C 8-16 aliphatic hydrocarbon as plasticizer. The foamable material may also contain n-pentane and as flame proofing agent a synergistic mixture of bromine compound and a peroxide, e.g. hexabromocyclododecane and dicumyl peroxide. The examples used n-octane as plasticizer, n-hexadecane may also be used.
