Abstract

1494627 Cutting apparatus TINGEY & CO (ENGS) Ltd 1 April 1975 [28 March 1974] 13768/74 Heading B4B [Also in Division B8] Apparatus for use in the recovery of a commodity from faulty bags containing the commodity, e.g. faulty tea bags, comprises a conveyer 2, a cutting station and gripping means 18, 19 which co-operate wth the conveyer to feed faulty bags into and through the cutting station, the cutting means including opposed slitting wheels 13, 15 whose cutting peripheries overlap and serve to shear bags fed therebetween. The conveyer includes a number of separate strands 2 between which are located pairs of co-operating disc cutters 13, 15. The clamping means include rollers 18 each rotatably mounted on arms 19 pivotally mounted on a spacer 16 secured to the upper cutter shaft 6. The individual bags are clamped between the rollers and conveyer strand to thereby feed the bag past the cutters.
