Abstract
1494360 Electrostatographic developer XEROX CORP 6 Feb 1975 [25 Feb 1974] 5116/75 Heading G2H The developer comprises toner particles; a minor proportion, based on the weight of said toner particles, of particles of a polymeric additive having an average particle size less than the average particle size of said toner particles, said particles of said polymeric additive being non-smearable during use of said developer; and a minor proportion, based on the weight of said toner particles, of particles of an abrasive additive, these particles having a hardness greater than the hardness of said toner particles, said particles of abrasive additive being non-smearable during use of said developer. Many suitable additives are specified. In the sole example of the invention, Example II, the toner is formed from a carbon black pigmented styrene/ butyl methacrylate copolymer, the polymeric additive consists of spherical polyvinylidene particles and the abrasive additive consists of hydrophobic silica particles. The toner is mixed with coated steel carrier beads and used for the cascade development of electrostatic images on a selenium drum.
