1494318 Cigarette conveying system with buffer storage HAUNI-WERKE KORBER & CO KG 28 Feb 1975 [6 March 1974] 10145/74 Heading B8A Filter cigarettes 2 produced in a machine 3 pass between conveyer belts 4, 6 into a variable capacity magazine 12, between conveyer belts 13, 14 and into a packing machine 19 via a magazine 18, the magazine 12 being controlled by a pivoted feeler 29. The feeler, by an electronic contactor 41, controls the direction 8 in which a belt 11 forming the floor of the magazine 12 is driven by a rotary magnet 26. A rear wall 9 is attached to the belt 11 but an upper wall 24 is stationery. A limit switch 42 is actuated by the wall 9 and a limit switch 43 is operated by a cam 44 attached to the belt 11. The drive for the conveyer belts 13, 14 is controlled by a photo-electric cell 48 associated with the magazine 18 and the upper belt is pivotable as indicated at 46. If the capacity of the packing machine 19 is less than the output of the machine 3, the excess output in a region 22 adjacent the feeler 29 causes the feeler to operate the contactor 41 such that the belt 11 and wall 9 are driven leftwards and the excess cigarettes 2 are accommodated. If the excess persists, the machine 3 is stopped by operation of the switch 42 by the wall 9. Should too few or no cigarettes be fed into the region 22 and magazine 12, the feeler pivots to the left and the contactor 41 causes the belt 11 to move rightwards and the supply to machine 19 is maintained. If the reserve in the magazine 12 is used, the limit switch 43 is operated by the cam 44 of the belt 11 and the machine 19 is stopped. The arrangement of the conveyers 4, 6 and 13, 14 facilitates sampling and inspection of the conveyed articles.
