Abstract

1493257 Catheters J G POWERS 12 Nov 1974 48890/74 Heading ASR A catheter tube 18 is slidably received at its forward end in an introducer 28 which has a removable end cap' 20 and fixed at its rear end to a connector 16, a flexible sheath 34 being disposed around the catheter tube 18 and secured to the introducer 28 and the connector, and a lubricant 36 being disposed in the introducer 28. With the sheath 34 extended the catheter tube which, has a rear end cap 22 is disposed in the bore 24 of a tube 26 which contains the lubricant 36, the lubricant being ejected into the body ahead of the catheter tube 18 when it is projected through the introducer thus collapsing the sheath 34. The catheter tube is made of polyvinyl chloride or rubber, the connector of polypropylene, the sheath of polyethylene and the introducer of propylene. The device is sterilely packaged.
