Abstract

1492996 Cutting apparatus CONSTRUCTIONS MECANIQUES F LAROCHE & FILS 27 May 1975 [27 May 1974] 23215/75 Heading B4 [Also in Division D1] A cutting machine for, e.g. cutting-up bales 20, Fig. 3, of textile fibres, comprises a device 5, 9, 12 for loading a bale into the machine, feeding means 2, 3, Fig. 2, for advancing the bale towards a guillotine-type cutting device, the various functions of the machine being actuated under the control of a synchronizing device such that successive slices of predetermined thickness are cut from the bale. The loading device includes a frame having two plates 5, 9 and pivotably mounted on an axis 43, Fig. 3; the frame is tilted from a loading position to a cutting position by means of an hydraulic ram 12. The feeding means comprises a plate 3 connected to an hydraulic ram 2, the feed being incrementally controlled by a pulse counting device (32, 36, 37), Fig. 7 (not shown). The guillotine blade 19 is mounted on a beam 18 which is actuated by hydraulic rams 15 and guided by bars 16; the blade cutting edge coacts with a nylon bar 29. In a modification, Fig. 11 (not shown), a pair of loading frames are provided such that as one is being loaded with a bale, the other is in the cutting position and loaded with a bale. In a further modification, Fig. 9 (not shown), the loading device comprises a box 50 divided into two compartments each closed by a respective door 62. The box is pivotally mounted on a carriage 53 such that as one bale is in the cutting position, the other compartment is being loaded. When the cutting of the one bale is completed the carriage is moved and the box rotated a half turn by means of respective rams 55, 56 thereby reversing the position of the compartments.
